This is a functional unique piece of art. It is a square dining table 4 1/2 feet per side, 30" high. The core is made of russian birch, and the legs are made of steel. What makes this table unique is that the top has been decorated by hand by Santa Fe artist Sol Bucalo using a technique called cartapeste. Similar to papier mache, it uses thousands of little pieces of paper in many layers to create the stunning image you can see in the pictures. The surface is protected by five layers of varnish, creating a sturdy table top that resists water as normal wood and is very smooth to the touch.

This is in fact a unique piece of art that can be safely used as a dining table! The technique and look of the table is a terrific conversation piece, and its size can easily accommodate 8 people.

I am selling my display system that I made to show my jewelry at craft shows. There are 8 panels that are made of formica over thin plywood with a metal edging. These panels have hooks on the back that attach to the 6' grid panels as shown in the photo. They can also sit on a table in a triangular configuration with metal dividers that come with the set. The panels have velcro to attach the jewelry cards, and hooks for necklaces, mirrors, etc. There are fabric covers for the panels so that the jewelry can be left on the panels and stored, if desired. Also, there is a cube grid system that I have cut to different heights to display items on a table. Some fabric table covers and skirting come with the system, and the tables will available as well in a couple of weeks for an additional fee. This system has seen some use over the years, but still has some good life left, and is an inexpensive way to get started. I'm also selling my halogen lighting system. We are proud to exhibit a complete collection of 154 Javanese Shadow Puppets from the Sultan's Palace of Jogjakarta, Indonesia. A complete set typically takes about 25 years to make and is very rare to find one outside of Indonesia.
History: In Java and Bali shadow puppet plays are known as wayang kulit. Stories presented are usually mythical & morality tales. There is an educational moral to the plays which usually portray a battle between good and evil, with good always winning and evil running away (but eventually to return). The Indonesian shadow plays are sometimes considered one of the earliest examples of animation.
UNESCO designated Wayang Kulit as a Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity on November 7, 2003.
The puppets are made primarily of leather and manipulated with sticks. Shadows are cast using an oil lamp. Shadow plays are performed during sacred temple ceremonies, at private functions, and for the public in the villages. A performance can last all night long, sometimes up to six hours or until dawn.
We will also exhibit over 50 Javanese Batik paintings at very affordable prices starting at $35, plus framed batik stamps and Balinese batik sarongs for only $15.

Saturday July 5th from 12 noon until 5pm.
Sunday July 6th from 12 noon until 4pm.

I have two kachina paintings by Hopi artist Leroy Kewenyama. The paintings are dated 1964 and are still in their original crude frames. The paintings are in excellent condition with very minor wear. I believe the paintings are watercolor or tempra.

I had these looked at by the Cureator of Art at the Panhandle Plains Historical Museum and he put me in touch with a gallery in Arizona that deals in Native art. The gallery offered me $750 each for them ($1500 for both). I figured if the Gallery was offering that amount, they would list them for quite a bit more in order to make a profit.

First time in Santa Fe! Java Shadow Puppet & Batik Art Exhibition
We are exhibiting a complete collection of 154 Javanese Shadow Puppets from the Sultan's Palace of Jogyakarta, Indonesia. This is the first time a complete collection has been on display in the USA.
History: In Java and Bali shadow puppet plays are known as wayang kulit. Wayang means shadow or imagination, while Kulit means skin and refers to the leather that puppets are made from. Stories presented are usually mythical & morality tales. There is an educational moral to the plays which usually portray a battle between good and evil, with good always winning and evil running away (but eventually to return). The Indonesian shadow plays are sometimes considered one of the earliest examples of animation. UNESCO designated Wayang Kulit as a Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity on November 7, 2003.
The puppets are made primarily of leather and manipulated with sticks. Shadows are cast using an oil lamp. Shadow plays are performed during sacred temple ceremonies, at private functions, and for the public in the villages. A performance can last all night long, sometimes up to six hours or until dawn.
We will also exhibit over 50 Batik paintings at very affordable prices starting at $35, plus framed batik stamps and batik sarongs for only $15. Batik has been both an art and a craft for centuries. In Java, Indonesia, batik is part of an ancient tradition, and some of the finest batik cloth in the world is still made there.

Saturday July 5th from 12 noon until 5pm.
Sunday July 6th from 12 noon until 4pm.
Friday July 11th 6pm-8pm
Saturday July 12th from 12 noon until 5pm.
Sunday July 13th from 12 noon until 5pm.
DIRECTIONS: We're located in a warehouse on the OUTSIDE of Santa Fe Place Mall (Via Linda Mall) which is at the corner of Cerrillos Road and Rodeo. We are located between Shoe Pavillion & Dillards in the old Walgreens' space - it still says Walgreens on the door handle). We face Rodeo Rd. and are immediately to the left of Shoe Pavillion. One of her larger pieces, this is a true gem. Dorothy's idea for this design came from a pottery shard she found on the Acoma reservation. Originally, she says, it was a series of simple squares, half white, half black, so she called this idea the "Day and Night" pattern. In this interpretation, the square has become a rectangle, actually a parallelogram, and executed in one of her famous spirals. Her trademark is executing the same number of geometric shapes, regardless of the variance in circumference. To see how the number of spirals shrink in size, we have shown a close-up the the neck of this vase, click here. Size: 7" high by 81/2" diameter. Price: $3,800 SOLD. DOROTHY TORIVIO Dorothy Torivio was born at Acoma Pueblo in the 1940s. She is recognized for her innovative work in exaggerated seed-pot forms in large and miniature sizes. She covers her vessels with black and white or polychrome patterns of staggering intricacy, painted freehand with computer-like precision. Dorothy has extrapolated the innovative forms and decorations that were initiated by Lucy Martin Lewis and Marie Chino, famous potters in the previous Acoma generation. Her mother taught her to make pottery and still helps with the firing. An unusually deft painter who uses a traditional yucca brush, Dorothy maintains that the ideas for her decorations come from God. Her daughter helps gather the clay, grinds the mineral rock pigments, and chews the plant fronds for her mother's brushes. Dorothy specializes in Acoma hand coiled abstract pottery. She got the idea one day, back in 1982, to paint a design and repeat it over and over again on the shape of the pot. Dorothy basically combines the traditional pottery with her own penchant for the kinetic image, and thus creates an eye catching swirl design that contains both radiating and spiral motion. She uses a chewed yucca stalk that she fashions into a brush to paint with. Dorothy breaks off only what she needs so that the plant is not damaged and since it comes from Mother earth, it�s free. Dorothy says �I love the travel and expressing myself about my pottery, it creates inspiration for the younger artists out there.� Among the many relatives Sandra Victorino (niece) is one following her footsteps.
