FOSTER ME !OPERATION VEGAS DOGS (TASC)! Seeks Committed Foster Homes (Santa Fe, NM)

�Operation Vegas Dogs� has been a heartfelt and urgent effort the past 5 months to find loving foster and ultimately adoptive homes in the Santa Fe and surrounding areas for adult dogs in an underfunded shelter that has closed down in Las Vegas, NM (TASC). We seek committed individuals with dog experience (even if you don�t have dog experience, but come with a good heart, patience, perseverance and great attitude, we will guide you) who can provide a calm-assertive, supportive home to the dogs, many of which are somewhat special needs. Experience in gentle methods of dog training very helpful. We can support foster parents with training and resources to assist you in introducing and maintaining the foster dog to your home situation. We will provide various means of support to help you find your foster dog the wonderful forever loving home it deserves. (The dogs are now in Santa Fe; no travel to Las Vegas required.)

We have several short-hair mix, adult dogs, possibly in need of on-going, long-term foster homes. All have temporary homes at the moment, but we are ALWAYS looking for a �safety net� of homes that can take URGENT cases of our dogs that have not found a permanent home yet. This may include moving dogs to better foster situation--from a loving home that can no longer care for the dog, or continuing foster care for dogs that have GRADUATED from training that have not yet been adopted. Foster homes will need to provide a safe haven for these deserving dogs from one week to longer�maybe even six months!

Most of these dogs are posted on Craig�s List NOW (for adoption, ultimately) and will be available to see if you just give us a call and set up an appointment, come to an Adoption Day, or want to see the dogs in training at Paws Plaza with Robin Morehouse.

If you�ve not fostered for a long time, or not at all, and have thought about enjoying the benefits for you AND the dog, please contact us! Interview and foster agreement will be required.

I am a amazingly deep-souled, shining, black Lab and Pit Bull blend, the finest blend, of course�can you say �French� (I�ve been known as Jazzmine too�go figure)! I�m one of the nicest dogs you�ll ever meet, and I just successfully raised 7 of my own pups, of all wonderful colors and mixes. Just so you know, that spot on my forehead is my third eye, so I can see into the future--you are so lucky (well really it's a healing ulcer...)!

I am so �low-maintenance� (a quality every femme fatal desires!), and mature that I would blend well with children, an older, wiser, person, or a family with other dog-children. Do you have a large bathtub? Ooo-la-la!

Oh, and just because I�m mature doesn�t mean I can�t dance the salsa (I�m also Brazilian blend�) and play with the pack!

I am a beautiful golden girl, boxer mix with white socks on my feet about 30 lbs (so lithe!). I AM Confident (but could learn more confidence) and outgoing! I LOVE to race around with all the other 6 dogs at my foster home and play play play; they all loved me as soon as they met me! I have a wonderful, sweet energy with a great sense of humor, can't you tell from my tongue? I so much enjoy playing or �boxing� with my larger water bowl, so I think I need a kiddie doggie pool instead to play in (but I don't do that with my smaller water bowl next to my food!).

My loving foster mom has several other doggies whom I love, but I need to learn how to be around people better. I LOVE people, too, it just takes a little bit of time for me to get used to you and for my perky and bouncy personality to soar. But when I feel safe and secure, I want to be picked up and sit in your lap! Will you take me for rides in your car to the dog park, store, or BBQ where I can build my confidence in social setting with people? Will you give me exercise and boundaries and training so I have good manners and know where I fit in your pack? Will I have other brother and sister doggies I can play with?

I AM Crowbird Russell (�Crow�), 1 1/2 year old Heeler-pit mix, and a lovable, mellow, and very strong and athletic 40 lbs. I am neutered, with all my shots. I LOVE all dogs and people, of all shapes, sizes, genders (I've never been introduced to cats, but I'm pretty laid back!). I was always a great kennel mate to any doggie who was put in with me.

I tend to be a real goof ball and loveable guy and I thrive on affection. I will sleep in a crate, and just like hanging out at home. I LOVE my doghouse and very often like to sleep out of doors at night. At night, I'm quiet, but will tell you if there is any unwanted critters or strangers approaching the house.

Can you give me a bit more boundaries and training, as I thrive on good manners too? And, being around more people wouldn't hurt to bring out my personality. I'm a good listener because I'm so smart, and maybe more rides in a larger car or SUV in a crate would help me be more secure, to feel a part of your family.

Why are these ladies hugging me so much? Because I am a person in a dog's body, and full of unconditional love! I am very gregarious with people of all shapes and sizes and I hang with a group of large dog-buds everyday in my current training/boarding home. I also love to exercise, ride in the car, listen to your directions for me, and am very mellow and adaptive. I'm also very smart and handsome!

Hi All:

I just received word from Pyrenees Rescue that there are two Pyrs that have been turned into the SF shelter, One adult male and one adult female - owners moving to Europe. There is also a possible female Pyr cross at the Santa Fe shelter. None of these Pyrs appear on the SF shelter website yet.

Also there is a Pyr male at the Carslsbad shelter and one male at Los Lunas. The Carslbad Pyr is at risk for euthanasia on Tuesday. The Los Lunas dog may be at risk for euthanasia as well.

Kisha is a 2 1/2 year old spayed Black Lab mix. She is very sweet and loving and gets the goofiest look on her face when she gets pats and scratches. She looks like she's about to melt! Kisha is shy in new situations but once she trusts you she relaxes. She can be frightened by loud unexpected noises and large amounts of activity but she's working on building up her confidence in her foster home. She's been adjusting to life beyond the chain very well and now jumps in the car on her own, loves going on walks, hikes, and making new friends at the dog park. She likes hanging out with the other dogs in the house, but would be happy being your one and only too. She is house trained and enjoys the freedom of being inside or out using a doggie door. Sweet dog needs farm

My dog Mercy is a six year old foxhound. I live in a big city and work long hours which has lead her to develop some separation anxiety when I am away. However, when people are around she is calm, sweet, and gentle. She is housebroken, good with other dogs (as long as they aren�t too aggressive) and good with children.
She content to be left outside and sleep in the sun while I am gone during the day, so she needs place where she has constant access to the outdoors . Ideally there would be a doggie door so she could come in and out as she pleases. She walks with a limp or just uses three legs because she tried to jump over a fence in the city and dislocated her ankle and ripped her tendons so she had a surgery that fused her ankle joint. Besides that, she is in perfect health.

She's a great dog and I can no longer care for her. I can't find a home for her locally since she needs a place to roam. I can drive her to her new home, but $100 towards the gas money will count as her adoption fee. I will not let her live at any place that I haven't visited so I can make sure the environment is right for her.

This brindle-colored bulldog mix has been hanging around my house for a few weeks. A friend took her in temporarily and fattened her up a bit, but her puppyish ways annoyed his dog. She is much happier and more confident since the first time she was here. Unfortunately, my landlady does not want dogs on the property.

Mabel is probably about a year old and may have already had puppies. (I can't tell.) She is joyful when I bring her something to eat and romps around at the prospect. I've only heard here bark a couple of times - kind of a playful bark that says "I'm still hungry" or "I think I'll chase this cat around." It worries me about the cats - I have a number of feral cats I'm trying to find home for. She doesn't seem vicious, but she did chase one of my cats quite a distance. My indoor cat came running out once and attacked her, and she did show a healthy respect for it. Still, I don't think she would do very well in a cat household - she has a huge head and I wouldn't want her to do any damage to a beloved pet. She was fine with another dog, who was also a bulldog mix.

I don't know what she is like in the house. I would like her to find a home where she lives indoors or at least is inside a yard with a dog house. I won't let her go to a home where she would run free or be chained up.

I have been rescuing feral cats in Velarde for the past year, ever since two feral mothers brought their kittens to me for help with feeding

I have neutered and vaccinated about ten kittens and am in the process of trying to socialize them and find home for all.

There was only one kitten who I couldn�t catch (of course she was a female) and she had kittens 11 weeks ago. I found a home for two of them and am still looking for homes for Bat, Bear and Leonard. Please see the picture attached.

These kitties would make good mousers, as their Mom has shown them how and introduced them to several different rodent delicacies. They are only available to loving homes with a posh indoor lifestyle. We have already lost enough of our extended family to coyotes.

just over 1 yr old. not sure or breed. maybe Chesapeake bay retriever and border collie. she's a loving dog for me and my 7 yr old child. but she's very protective of our home and is aggressive towards strangers. she's very smart and loves training. i simply don't have the time to do the training she needs to help her learn that people who i let in the house are safe. she's the size of a lab. very athletic. loves to run. loves to jump. is very mellow when in the house. sleeps. likes to cuddle. would be ideal hunting dog i would guess. has killed birds in the back yard. is aggressive to one of our cats (a dominate cat) and not to the other (a submissive cat). we have given her a great home with lots of care and shots and now she needs to go somewhere with more space to roam (ideally) and to someone who has time to do the training to make her a perfect companion. she has been through basic obedience and does sit, stay, come, and down. was jumping through a hula hoop but we haven't asked her to do that in a long time. gets along great with other dogs. would be good to have another dog who is more mature whose lead she could take.

It's very sad to lose a pet. And the person who keeps posting hoorays to the coyotes is pretty insensitive. If it were your dog or cat, I doubt you'd be so cold. It's true that coyotes kill for food, but it doesn't take away the pain of losing a friend. Let's give this guy some sympathy.

Small, black, male (neutered) dog, 15 pounds, lost on June 30 in the foothills above La Barbaria Road, off the Santa Fe Trail (Overlook area). Some white on chest and back of neck, mottled-gray feet. He's a mix--our guess is probably Australian cattle dog (Queensland Heeler, Blue Heeler) with something small (maybe Chihuahua). He looks like a puppy but is 1 year old. If he still has his collar, he'll have his tags. He also has an implanted microchip. His name is Jett and he is very sweet and adorable. Reward offered.

Kisha may be the sweetest and most loving dog I�ve fostered. She�s a 2 � year old spayed Black Lab and maybe Border Collie mix who came to the Espanola Animal Shelter in May. Kisha is shy especially in new situations and is working on building up her confidence and trust in people she�s not familiar with. She has really opened up in her foster home and just seems so grateful to have a comfy bed, good food, and a person to love. She likes to mingle at the dog park and stays close by on hikes in the Forest. She is a loyal and affectionate companion who gets the goofiest look on her face when she gets pats and scratches. We are currently fostering 2 dogs rescued from a shelter that closed down. One is a male german shepherd/husky/red heeler mix about 2 years old. The other is a female pittbull/lab mix also 2 years old. Both are excellent dogs who have had a rough start to life. A WARM thanks and appreciation to those who have taken in these foster dogs. WE COULD NOT HAVE DONE THIS WITHOUT YOU! All the dogs found a foster/adoptive home by June 30!

HOWEVER, TWO OF THE DOGS TAKEN INTO FOSTER NOW NEED A NEW FOSTER/ADOPTIVE HOME. PLEASE HELP!!

The two dogs are Dakini (Velvet), the black one, and Cinnamon (Electra), the tan girl. They were kennel mates at the shelter. Dakini is a shy doggie, but will come around, and is a loving lab mix; now recovering from endropic eye surgery and needs a kind, patient human. Cinnamon is a very friendly boxer mix with a good sense of humor, loves her tummy rubbed. About 3 years old. Joyful.
