Here's what I've got:
A modest place of simple pleasures, simply exquisite that is, and exquisitely loved. This is what I call introvert heaven. It's a get-away, perfect for solitude, romance, comfort, writing and so on. It is comfortable and still and spacious here with all that sky. The mountains inspire and replenish your creative juices. Recharge your libido. The desert always has plenty. Renew your spirit watching hawks crows play argue above coyotes slinking below. You can't see any neighbors out the span of south solar windows that face the desert and 180 degree mountain view. You are 6 miles northeast of town and 16 miles west of Taos Ski Valley. There are hiking and biking trails in every direction. Not to mention winter skiing and summer rafting. The walls breathe, the heat is in the floor. No chemicals are used cleaning. The jetsetter hot tub is a treasure, nestled in the hillside overlooking it all. Bird watch mornings, sunset watch then star watch. Don't turn into a prune. The backyard is fenced in with a patio and grill -- ready for you and your well behaved dog. You don't have a dog? Spanky will be happy to go with you on walks. On site massages are available. Available By Arrangement: pets negotiable; 2 mountain bikes, pre-arrival grocery shopping, travel tips.

What's not to like?
You won't like it if you want to walk to restaurants or shop from here. You will like it if you want to walk your dog right out the door. There's no fireplace. I went for practical rather than romantic on that score when building . Once out of the yard, we're surrounded by dirt. Some of it gets inside. Critters like to be intimate. We never permanently win the battle to keep prairie dogs out of the yard and they are not kind to the grass. Nor do we hold back every mouse that wants to get in the house. Not many bugs here though, that's a high desert blessing. The temperature swings at least 30 degrees every day. I am not a professional innkeeper, which has both pros and cons. I have this one guesthouse and a day job. I treat you like a neighbor with an interesting life.

1-4 people, 1 bdrm king size bed (siemens firm), full size futon couch, well equipped kitchen, including spices and staples. WiFi, Satellite TV, DVD, CD player, washer, dryer, fenced in backyard with patio and grill. Big passive solar window views. Not just a heaven for introverts. It's a doggie heaven too.

Suitable Digs is a small, eclectic group of short-term green lodgings set on 2 1/2 acres just 10 car-minutes from the Plaza in Santa Fe, with summer-flowered patio, lush seasonal organic vegetable and fruit gardens, a geodesic dome greenhouse, a wonderful oak harvest table under the grape arbour, young fruit trees. A great walking/running/biking trail is just nearby.

There are two lovely, small apartments with professionally handmade interiors, the Earth Room and the Sun Room (photos below), each made to be 'a home away from home'. They are available by the night ($125, double occupancy) and by the week ($700), with longer times/rates possible. Each apartment sleeps up to three people.

There is also the Bunkhouse, a cozy one-room dwelling with a double bed and a single bed/couch, simple kitchen and dining area, and a bathroom with shower. There is a radio/cd player, and no phone, no television. It has that retro/camp/cabin feeling, updated and beautiful. The nightly rate is $100, and the weekly rate is $600 (double occupancy).

The Main House is a post-and-beam building dismantled in New Hampshire and rebuilt in Santa Fe 23 years ago. It has one fine sleeping room, the Green Room, with shared kitchen and bathroom. This spacious and richly-coloured room has a sleeping loft above and living area below, with second-floor deck access and wonderful views. The cost is $75/night and $450/week, double occupancy. Also in the Main House is the Sauna Room, with a 2-person cedar sauna offering the finest far-infrared technology, available to guests for a small fee.
