The bike is 100% rideable, and the current battery holds a charge well and functions normally. However, this battery model falls under the older CPSC safety warning regarding Rad Power Bikes' legacy batteries. Because a brand-new SmartShield replacement battery and charger from Rad costs around $550, I have aggressively discounted the price of the entire bike so the next owner can decide if they want to run it as-is or invest in a brand-new, updated battery down the road.
