make / manufacturer: Universal Plastic Products (UPP)
model name / number: Dolphin Sr.

NOTE (7/9/2024): I am going to suspend this sale until I get the title and decide on a new price based on getting the sail rig. I may also make a deal to include the trailer. I'll update this post when I get everything sorted. The two guys that called / emailed / texted me: you can contact me again (I lost the contact info). I think about another week will be right (July 15).

Also, I found a sail rig for the boat: Mast, Boom, Gaff, and a blown-out but intact sail. I found the gooseneck on Ebay. The boom has a rather poor repair to a break in the tube. The repair is where the gooseneck connects. I dis assembled the boom and "flipped" it. The clean part of the boom is now at the gooseneck. The repair area is now near the stern. The sail needs a few patches, but would work as a beginner sail. I added a photo of the boat with the old factory Lateen sail rig and sail.

NOTE: (7/1/24):I'm waiting on New Mexico MVD to mail me the replacement title. Said it would be 2 to 3 weeks, which is next week.

Original Post: I have the 2024 Registration in-hand. I'm looking for the title (should find it). I've applied for a duplicate anyway. I may delete the post until I find the title or get the duplicate. I'm leaving it up in case someone is interested. Thanks.

1970 Dolphin Senior (Dolphin Sr.) Sailboat. Everything except Lateen Sail Rig. This is a "clone" of the popular Sunfish sailboat. The hull has better performance. Hull has fiberglassed foam floatation on hull bottom. Boat is unsinkable. I bought and repaired the hull around 2014. Sale DOES NOT include the mast, boom, or sail. Trailer not included. The boat started life in Texas and was brought to NM in the 80's. It was never registered in TX or NM. I registered it. The hull number is the one I obtained from NM MVD.

Everything else is included as shown the photos: hull, drop keel, rudder, tiller, rudder gudgeon / pintle. Paint is faded, and and weathered. I did some fiberglass repair to the hull bottom where it was rubbed through. Hull is watertight. I added a hull drain and the inspection ports on the bow. The boat is a lively performer. I am using the sailing rig for my other boat, so it is not available.

If you have an old Sunfish with a bad hull or if you want another hull to play with, the Sunfish lateen sail rig works perfectly (mast, boom, gaff, sail). That's what I used when I fixed it up. The boat isn't pretty, but it sails perfectly. I just can't bring myself to scrap it, which is what I'm going to do, or sell the boat parts on ebay.

Price is OBO if you come and get it. It will fit on a roof rack or long bed pickup or utility trailer. A little over 100lbs. I might even haul it to you if you live near Los Alamos, Santa Fe, or Espanola. I live in White Rock. Name is Stu.
