This is a rare and pristine complete set of 22 greeting cards from Robert Rauschenberg’s Tribute 21 series, originally purchased at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., in 1994, during the project’s U.S. debut.
About the Project:
Tribute 21 was a visionary collaboration between Rauschenberg and Felissimo, celebrating global contributions to humanity in anticipation of the 21st century. Each card in this collection is a reproduction of one of Rauschenberg’s 22 offset lithographs, representing universal themes such as Peace, Justice, Education, Nature, and Freedom.
The back of each card is paired with a quote from a preeminent thinker or global leader whose work embodies the theme. These voices include Mikhail Gorbachev, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Wangari Maathai, Elie Wiesel, and others.
Notable Quote Example:
PEACE
“We are all passengers aboard one ship, the Earth, and we must respect and protect it. There will be no second Noah’s Ark.”
— Mikhail Gorbachev
Each card is a piece of both fine art and social commentary, emphasizing the project’s intention to honor legacy, contribution, and shared human values.
