Reading Quest, a local non-profit, provides free professional, one-on-one reading tutoring for low-income children who need help with reading. We tutor during the school day and afterschool at three public elementary schools in Taos. Our work is in-person, with the exception of staff meetings and trainings on Zoom. We are also seeking tutors to work in schools in Taos, Española, Santa Fe and Bernalillo.
We are seeking enthusiastic, kind applicants who have experience working with children and would enjoy learning how to teach them how to read using explicit structured literacy, phonics and reading games aligned with the science of reading. We provide extensive training and on-going support for all of our Reading Specialists. The paid training for this position could begin this spring and summer while the main work begins in the fall. Tutoring pay begins at $25/hour to $30/hour depending on experience and increases to $35-$40/hour over time.
