Join our professional School Nutrition Service Team within the beautiful residential Santa Fe Campus of The New Mexico School for the Deaf! An 11-month, full-time position involving both Administrative Assistant and kitchen support tasks. Professional Development and American Sign Language training is provided, as well as full benefits and retirement available for permanent employees. Enjoy a weekday schedule as you support our operations for the NMSD USDA Student Breakfast Program, National School Lunch Program, the residential Family Style Dinner Program, with occasional weekend catered events for our 140 students and campus community. Make a positive impact upon the nutrition of our students during the school year and enjoy ample breaks during our holiday and summer closures.
Education and/or Experience:
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Administrative support / office experience is required.
• Prior employment as a commercial cook is required.
Additional Qualifications:
• Able to pass a pre-employment background check.
• Must have and maintain a current Food Handler Certification which meets the requirements of the New Mexico Environment Department and / or USDA Food Programs or able to obtain this certificate within 30 days of hire.
• Must complete annual USDA required Professional Standards Training. hours and NMSD Professional Development Plan on an ongoing basis.
• Experience cooking for a USDA school nutrition program is preferred.
• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications is required.
• Possess skills in Nutrition Software preferred.
• Able to follow routine verbal/ASL and written instructions.
• Proficiency in written English.
• Spanish preferred.
