Do your part and help sustain a healthy environment by recycling your food scraps and yard wastes through composting! Using red worms in your compost saves your time, labor and water compared to other methods. In the garden red worms require a layer of mulch. Mulch saves water, and also protects and feeds the worms and other soil life. In return the red worms enhance the fertility of your soil. Red worms leave "castings" in the soils they inhabit. Castings support the growth of beneficial bacteria and fungi which provides the foundation for healthy strong plant growth, enhancing your gardening efforts by building healthy soils and supporting carbon sequestration. And if you are looking into using BIOCHAR in your soil, consider using my worm castings to inoculate it, and thereby eliminate the 'biochar lag period' during which soil nutrients will be less available for your crop. This step will ensure your BIOCHAR will be have an immediate beneficial effect. Oh, and your kids will love having worms at home!

Also available at the Saturday Santa Fe Farmers Market from mid April to November.
$40 for 1000+ red worms in compost, with cocoons (eggs) and many juveniles to boot!
We also have wooden worm bins for sale for $250 + tax.
Bin size is: 3' x 3' x 2.5' tall. This bin is designed for the dry climate of New Mexico, which means when used with my worms and instructions, you will not find a easier (no turning required), more water-efficient composting method. Plastic bins may be cheaper, but they won't have the volume that allows the worms to work efficiently through extreme conditions. Volume is the key to holding both moisture and the ideal temperature within the bin. Wood is the ideal material. Unlike plastic or metal bins, wood breathes, and it doesn't conduct heat or cold into the bin. The large volume also provides advantages where nosy scavengers are a problem. The size of this bin allows the user to easily bury food scraps beneath layers of straw such that critters will not be aware of it.
Using this bin, you will recycle all of your kitchen scraps, yard waste and more and produce the finest compost anywhere, using the minimum labor and least water of any composting method.
Complete setup at your home with bin and worms for $400 + tax.
Consider putting a pound or two directly in the garden beds and watch the worms transform your garden. Worms provide immense benefits to the soil and soil life. While night crawlers usually show up on their own, red worms need to be "seeded" in most cases.
