I’d like to find a singer interested in an acoustic vocal+bass duo and/or vocal+bass+drums trio. I’d like to be able to perform with or without microphones or amplifiers in appropriate spaces. Able to read music is probably important. Be loud with good intonation and be able to project without amplification.
The kind of material would be songs that make sense for the format where bass and vocal can double on melodies on and off, some technical ability is required, for example:
LHR stuff, particularly “Four” and “Moanin’”
Hendrix+Monk “In Walked Bud”
Joni Mitchell’s take on “Goodbye Pork Pie Hat”
Latin/bossas like “One Note Samba”, “How Insensitive”, etc.
Ballads like “Round Midnight” on the complex side to “Autumn Leaves” on the simple side.
Most any Cole Porter tune.
And I’d like to throw in some unconventional covers from Hank Williams to Mission Of Burma. Violent Femmes maybe.
I have significant experience with this spare acoustic format and it would be great to find a loud creative singer to take it further.
