Fun Facilitator

Salary: $12/hr
Status: Part-Time (approximately 25-30 hours per week)
FLSA - Non-Exempt
Work Week - Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday (occasional other shifts as needed)

General Description:
The Fun Facilitator (FF) is responsible for providing a fun and welcoming environment to visitors of all ages while interacting on the Museum exhibit floor. The FF role combines a love of working with children as well a strong customer service skill set. While working at the admission desk, the Fun Facilitator is the first person the visitors meet when they come in, and is responsible for welcoming them, processing admission, and selling memberships, among other tasks. Works under general supervision of the Floor Manager.

Essential Functions:
The list of essential functions is intended to be representative of the tasks performed. The omission of an essential function does not preclude management from assigning duties not listed.
-Supports the Museum's mission and educational philosophy.
-Ensures a fun and welcoming environment that is clean, safe, and cared for.
-Engages with children and adults in a welcoming, courteous, and professional manner.
-Maintains exhibits so they are ready for visitors at all times.
-Facilitates hands-on, play-based experiences for visitors during programs and activities created by the Programming staff, and at our exhibits, both indoors and outdoors. The goal should be full engagement with visitors.
-Opens and closes the Museum at beginning and/or end of workday.
-Assists with care and maintenance of Museum animals.
-Communicates with the Floor Manager regarding any issues including exhibit repairs, customer problems/concerns, etc.
-Processes membership and birthday club applications.
-Opens and/or closes cash registers, and generally maintains the front desk appearance.
-Answers phones and forwards calls and messages appropriately.
-Works with Gift Shop manager and assists with inventory, stocking and selling merchandise.
-Attends staff meetings and trainings.
-Keeps up to date on Museum policies, programs, and special events.
-Facilitates successful execution of birthday parties, including setup and clean-up.
-Assists with any other special events, as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent. A.A. or B.A. in educational related field or coursework in Child Development, Early Learning, Art, STEAM and/or Theater is preferred. Bilingual a plus.

Additional Requirements:
-Knowledge and experience working with children aged 0-12.
-Interest in education following an informal, inquiry based process.
-Enjoys playing, creating, and having fun to facilitate a learning environment.
-Strong organizational skills.
-Excellent customer service skills.
-Knowledge and experience with cash handling and credit card processing.
-Must submit to and pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
-Bilingual a plus

Physical Demands/ Work Environment:
-Ability to lift, carry and otherwise move up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
-Ability to utilize computer equipment to complete work responsibilities.
-Ability to operate fax/copy machines, telephone, calculator and general office equipment.
-Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, reach, push, pull, climb or walk for various lengths of time throughout the day.
