A Master, both old and wise, traveling across a high mountain pass, found a precious gem in a stream running parallel to the path. Further down the pass, He met a female traveler who hungered, the wise Master opened His rucksack to share His food. The hungering woman gazed on the dazzling gem and pleaded with the Master to give it to her. The Master did so without hesitation. The woman ran off down the pass, reveling in her good fortune. She knew the gem had worth enough to give her material security for a lifetime... Later that day, the wise Master saw the woman coming back up the pass toward Him, in her weariness she was forced to crawl on all fours in an attempt to reach Him. she had returned in the hope of returning the gemstone to the wise Master. “i have realized, Master," she began, "i ve known how valuable the gemstone might be, but i return it in the hope that my Master will accept this woman and give her something much more precious... give the woman what the Master has within His being that enabled Him to give to this woman such riches, with such freedom.”
The Master held out His hand and offered her the service for which she so yearned.
