This was made in Japan in the era of doing things right and built to last. I do own and would only own these models from before about 2001 (I have a 1987 and a 2001). Maintain them and I expect they'll run many more decades. These were never racing machines, rather more like reliable workhorses for practical use of transportation or work (has a trailer hitch).
When I got this unit, it had not run in several years, through it was relatively clean and seemed well-kept. It shows only 3278 miles on the ODO. The oil was full and looked and smelled good, and it had clear promise for restoration. The plastics are in decent shape for its age (looks like maybe a dog chewed on one front fender) and still flexible and not deeply sun-damaged, and though I haven't yet put a new cover on the seat, the frame and foam are fine shape.
I cleaned it up, replaced the carburetor, battery, front drive shaft boots, air and oil and fuel filters, spark plug, petcock, brake fluid (pads are good), oil and differential oil, and ran it a bunch. There were initial indications of some carbon build-up in the top end which I treated and seem mostly cleared through now, and as far as I can tell, everything works - if not yet perfectly. I would expect it to run better and better the more hours are put on it and expect it has many more years of service left in it.
What it needs: four new tires - there are several different types for different purposes and so this is something of a personal choice to make based on how and on what surfaces you intend to use it; and the plastics and carry racks are currently off to give full access to the mechanicals, and a few new bolts may be needed to secure them on re-install.
